I have had the enjoyment of spending the last 3 years of my life listening to various podcasts. Podcasting is by far one of the newest and most informative forms of communication available today. Instead of the formal structure given in forms of media such as television, radio, sports, and so called "reality" shows. Podcasting is a conversation, something very real, and something alien to the majority of media in America. The lack of real conversations in the media today has become a huge illusion of how people interact with one another.
Having to write about podcasting interacting with education has put an idea in my head about the possibilities that podcasting could have on education. To me, the most meaningful moments of enlightenment come from a real conversation. A conversation pulls you in, demands your attention, and leaves an impression. Studies have shown that podcasting has already become the most effective form of education from mobile devices.
I truly believe in podcasting and feel it is the future for many different forms of education as well as entertainment. I do plan on starting a podcast someday, even if it isn't geared toward education. The process is as simple as using an audio recording device, beginning the podcast, and uploading the audio file to the desired site(iTunes, youtube, etc.). The absolute easiest way to go about the podcast is having a conversation about the given topic with a guest and/or cohost. Podcast are almost always unscripted and are very relaxed and casual. Two great I would recommend are Radiolab and Stuff to Blow Your Mind. Enjoy, and feel free to let me know what you think.
